Studies and surveys rank Texas among the lowest nationwide in women\u2019s health care.<\/p>\n

A 2024 study from The Commonwealth Fund ranked Texas second to last in the country for overall women\u2019s health. Texas scored in the bottom half of states for health outcomes; health care quality and prevention; and coverage, access and affordability.<\/p>\n

The same year, a study from ValuePenguin had Texas at second to last nationwide for access to prenatal and maternal care. A survey published by SmileHub in February placed the state at 46 out of 50 for women\u2019s health.<\/p>\n

State officials have worked to improve women\u2019s health outcomes in Texas. In 2016, the state launched Healthy Texas Women, a program that provides women\u2019s health and family planning services at no cost to those eligible.<\/p>\n

The Texas Legislature in July approved additional funding for the program.<\/p>\n
