After a Preston Hollow mansion went viral for its extravagant outdoor decorations, the city of Dallas wants to know whether residents have concerns about holiday light displays, noise and gatherings.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Dallas Code Compliance Department<\/a> has launched a survey to collect feedback. <\/p>\n

The survey includes questions about how often large gatherings occur in residents\u2019 neighborhoods, how disruptive the gatherings are and whether residents experience excessive or bright lighting in their neighborhoods.<\/p>\n

The survey is available in English and Spanish online<\/a>. <\/p>\n

In the Preston Hollow neighborhood, some residents have complained to the city about the standstill traffic caused by sightseeing crowds. Police officers enlisted to manage the surge in visitors for about one week last December cost Dallas taxpayers roughly $25,000. <\/p>\n

The city\u2019s code compliance department also issued notices to the homeowner<\/a> for light, noise and visibility violations, which have been resolved, The Dallas Morning News reported. <\/p>\n

Council member Gay Willis, who represents the Preston Hollow neighborhood, stated in her newsletter that most neighborhood gatherings occur without incident, but there are instances where neighbors\u2019 lives are disrupted and they seek relief from rules that the city could enforce.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour input will help us determine whether adjustments are needed so that events remain enjoyable while still respecting the neighborhoods that host them,\u201d Willis wrote on her newsletter. <\/p>\n

Council member Cara Mendelsohn wrote on social media over the weekend<\/a> that she was against this survey. <\/p>\n
