City Council is expected to vote sometime in January whether to acquire federal land at Hemisfair to facilitate the Project Marvel development, a city official told the San Antonio Business Journal last week<\/a>.<\/p>\n The city\u2019s Planning Commission on Wednesday unanimously voted to bring the potential purchase of the government-owned 6-acre parcel to a vote by council. The land, targeted under the Trump administration budget cuts, includes an office building at 727 E. Cesar Ch\u00e1vez Blvd. and two parking lots on Indianola Street.<\/p>\n The potential sale price wasn\u2019t immediately available, according to the SABJ.<\/p>\n Even if the city does purchase the site, federal tenants will remain at the spot for the next five years as the city works out plans, the publication reports. <\/p>\n It\u2019s unclear what the site will be used for based on the city\u2019s initial renderings of Project Marvel.<\/p>\n The city is pursuing the ambitious and controversial Project Marvel project to develop a $4 billion sports-and-entertainment district<\/a> that\u2019s likely to include an expanded convention center, a renovated Alamodome, a concert venue and a new hotel.
