\n\tMatt Cameron<\/a> has departed from Pearl Jam<\/a>. In a social media statement, the drummer announced he would be leaving the band after 27 years. \u201cMuch love and respect to Jeff, Ed, Mike and Stone for inviting me into the band in 1998 and for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime, filled with friendships, artistry, challenges and laughter,\u201d he said. \u201cI am forever grateful to the crew, staff and fans the world over. It\u2019s been an incredible journey. More to follow. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tIn a separate statement, the band \u2014 now consisting of Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard, Mike McCready, and Eddie Vedder \u2014 championed the time they spent performing with Cameron. \u201cFrom being one of our first musical heroes in the bands Skinyard and the mighty Soundgarden, to playing on our first demos in 1990, Matt Cameron has been a singular and true powerhouse of a musician and drummer,\u201d Pearl Jam wrote. <\/p>\n \n\tCameron performed with Soundgarden from 1986 until 1997, and returned for a brief stint from 2010 through 2017, and briefly worked with Queens of the Stone Age, though he never officially joined the band.
