SAN ANTONIO \u2014 It started with crayons and creativity \u2014 and turned into a holiday gift that keeps on giving.<\/p>\n
Walmart is spreading cheer across the San Antonio area this season through its second annual \u201cSpread the Joy\u201d coloring contest, inviting elementary students from Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Dallas to design festive holiday cards. This year, more than 170 Texas schools participated, helping Walmart donate over $40,000 statewide \u2014 a 116 percent increase from the program\u2019s first year.<\/p>\n
In San Antonio, three schools stood out for their winning designs: Arnold Elementary in San Antonio ISD, Driggers Elementary in Northside ISD and Price Elementary in South San Antonio ISD. Each participating school earned a $250 Walmart gift card for its PTA, with opportunities to earn even more based on student participation and top designs. Winning students also received gift cards of their own.<\/p>\n
