The toll is automatically deducted from each driver&#8217;s account, making spare change  <\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\"><strong>NEW YORK<\/strong> &#8211; A new <a href=\"https:\/\/corpinfo.panynj.gov\/port-authority\/en\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Port Authority<\/a> policy charges drivers more if their E-ZPass is installed incorrectly. The policy also increases the price for drivers who use Toll by Mail.<\/p>\n<p>   Incorrectly installed E-ZPass will cost drivers more <\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-bd34935e=\"\">What we know:<\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">On January 7, 2025, E-ZPass users faced a regular annual inflation-based toll increase. In the same approval was a new mid-tier toll category. These policy changes took effect July 6, 2025. A misread E-ZPass tag will cost drivers\u00a0$18.72, or a $2 (off-peak) to $4 (peak) increase.<\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">A mid-tier toll will affect drivers using a New York or New Jersey E-ZPass mounting the tag incorrectly, which is about nine percent of crossings, according to Port Authority.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">For example, a two-axle vehicle will pay $18.72, compared to $14.06 (E-ZPass Off-Peak) and $22.38 (Toll by Mail).<\/p>\n<p> What is the correct way to mount an E-ZPass? <\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">Port Authority uploaded a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/shorts\/eDhwbT2ed0I\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">video<\/a> on how to properly display your E-ZPass to avoid the new punitive toll.<\/p>\n<p> Affected crossings <\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">The increase in both tolls applies to eastbound tolls at:<\/p>\n<ul original-article-post=\"\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\" data-v-bd34935e=\"\">\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">George Washington Bridge<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Holland Tunnel<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Lincoln Tunnel<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Goethals Bridge<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Bayonne Bridge<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Outerbridge Crossing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> Why is this happening? <\/p>\n<p data-v-bd34935e=\"\">The Port Authority doesn&#8217;t receive taxpayer funding and relies on these tolls to maintain infrastructure. Similar to New York\u2019s MTA, the mid-tier toll is intended to cover the processing cost of bills sent to drivers that wrongly installed their tag.
