The organization has been decent at being able to squeeze good innings out of the likes of Ian Hamilton and Tim Hill at points, but it’s often seemed like they’re still an arm or two short. With Devin Williams and others now leaving the organization, it leaves the Yankees in a precarious position at this stage of the offseason.

MLB Trade Rumors | Steve Adams: It’s hot stove season and boy is that stove hot! Okay, maybe not at this exact moment, but the Yankees did make some minor moves on Monday. Yesterday, the team signed catcher Ali Sánchez and infielder Zack Short to minor league deals. We already knew about Short, but Sánchez was also added to the team’s transaction page on Monday. Those are the type of players who will round out a spring training lineup with an outside shot at making the team, but ones that if the Yankees have to rely on in a major way, something has probably gone wrong.

MLB.com | Bryan Hoch: Spencer Jones will go into 2026 as the Yankees’ top prospect with an outside chance to make the major league roster to start the season. The outfielder had arguably his best minor league season to this point in 2025, getting himself to the Triple-A level. However, there are still holes in his game — especially his strikeout proclivity — that he hopes to iron out further and prove his case in spring training.

MLB.com: In an old friend alert, former Yankee Rob Refsnyder agreed to a one-year deal with the Mariners on Monday.
