An atmospheric river will slam into California during Christmas week, bringing heavy rain and flash flooding concerns. Across Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside and Ventura counties, communities are preparing for the storm.<\/p>\n
The very large atmospheric river — nicknamed the “Pineapple Express” since it’s coming from Hawaii — is set to arrive on Tuesday afternoon, with rain picking up Tuesday night into Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The storm brings a possibility of flash flooding and a drop in temperatures.<\/p>\n
The National Weather Service (NWS) has upgraded parts of Southern California to “high risk” for excessive rainfall and flash flooding on Christmas Eve.<\/p>\n
The “high risk” area is just north of the city of Los Angeles and includes places like Burbank, Altadena, Glendale, San Bernardino, Santa Clarita and Thousand Oaks.<\/p>\n
