As his final days at the helm of New York City draw to a close, Mayor Eric Adams and top officials buried a time capsule<\/a> with objects commemorating the highs of his one-term administration. The mayor contributed a vinyl record, tucked into a sleeve bearing the words \u201crecord jobs, record homes, record small businesses.\u201d Other items like a prism \u2013 symbolizing the city\u2019s many cultures, languages and lifestyles \u2013 a graduation tassel, a padlock representing the administration\u2019s crackdown on illegal cannabis stores, a mini Staten Island Ferry, a key symbolizing the passage of City of Yes for Housing Opportunity, a chunk of an NYPD drone, a baby outfit, a tiny trash can and a speedometer to represent new e-bike regulations were also included. Perhaps most significantly, an ID card for the Roosevelt Hotel \u2013 the center of the administration\u2019s efforts to respond to the migrant influx \u2013 was placed inside. Here are some additional items we thought should\u2019ve been included.<\/p>\n

Custom waders<\/strong><\/p>\n

A pair of waders with the word hater embroidered on them. Adams\u2019 phrase \u201call my haters become my waiters when I sit down at the table of success\u201d may live on far longer than his mayoralty.<\/p>\n

Book club<\/strong><\/p>\n

A romance novel: \u201cPolitical Humanity.\u201d A self-help book: \u201cDon\u2019t Let it Happen.\u201d A health and wellness book: \u201cHealthy At Last: A Plant-Based Approach to Preventing and Reversing Diabetes and Other Chronic Illnesses.\u201d<\/p>\n

Snack time<\/strong><\/p>\n

A bag of sour cream and onion potato chips. Bribe money optional.<\/p>\n

They don\u2019t run this time capsule<\/strong><\/p>\n
