Is \u201capplying for college scholarships\u201d on your winter break to-do list? If not, you need to add it! Take advantage of your free time over the holidays to set yourself up for a great future. And keep reading to find scholarships and get tips on how to apply.<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t know what scholarships to apply for, that\u2019s not a problem. Finding scholarships is easy thanks to the Arlington ISD\u2019s guidance and counseling department. Students can apply for scholarships year-round by checking out the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aisd.net\/district\/departments\/academic-services\/transformational-learning\/guidance-and-counseling\/scholarships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scholarships page<\/a>\u00a0and choosing which ones they qualify for.<\/p>\n<p>There is a scholarship for everyone. Do you have a green thumb and plan to major in horticulture? Are you first in your family to pursue college, or are you an active member in Boy Scouts? Did you participate in the Dan Dipert Career and Technical Center culinary arts and hospitality program, or are you currently enrolled in a STEM-related career pathway?<\/p>\n<p>There are scholarships for all those students and a whole lot more. Really \u2013 there\u2019s a scholarship for everyone. But you have to apply. So, go check out the district\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aisd.net\/district\/departments\/academic-services\/transformational-learning\/guidance-and-counseling\/scholarships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scholarship page<\/a>. And keep scrolling down on this article to read about scholarships for Arlington ISD students offered by the Greater Arlington Chamber of Commerce, and then read the tips about applying for scholarships from Telisa Brown, Arlington ISD director of guidance and counseling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Greater Arlington Chamber Scholarships<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Greater Arlington Chamber Scholarship Program awards $20,000 in scholarships each year to graduating seniors from Arlington ISD to attend a college or university of their choice.<\/p>\n<p>Eight $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to one graduating senior from each of the six traditional high schools and the two early college high schools.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants are required to complete the online application, write an essay based on the essay topic provided, and upload all of the supporting documents.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications Due: Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026 ,at 11:59pm CST. <a href=\"https:\/\/apply.mykaleidoscope.com\/program\/GACCSP2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apply here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Scholarship Tips<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Arlington ISD director of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aisd.net\/district\/departments\/academic-services\/transformational-learning\/guidance-and-counseling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">guidance and counseling<\/a>\u00a0Telisa Brown has a few tips for students (and parents) planning to apply for scholarships:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Start Early<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Begin researching scholarships well in advance. Many scholarships have early deadlines, so starting early ensures you don\u2019t miss out on opportunities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong> Organize Deadlines<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Create a calendar to track application deadlines and prioritize those with the earliest due dates.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong>Focus on Fit<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Look for scholarships that align with your strengths, interests and experiences. For example, consider awards for academic achievement, community service, sports, or unique talents.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li><strong>Don\u2019t Ignore Small Awards<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Every amount will help. It all adds up to make a big difference.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li><strong>Gather items needed to apply for a scholarship early, like your transcript, completed FAFSA documents, resume, recommendation letters, and essays.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You may need these documents to reference while completing applications.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li><strong>Maximize Financial Aid Knowledge<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Ensure the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is completed early to qualify for federal, state ,and school-based aid.\u00a0Visit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aisd.net\/district\/departments\/academic-services\/transformational-learning\/guidance-and-counseling\/financial-aid-information\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arlington ISD financial aid website<\/a>\u00a0for additional information to complete your FAFSA application.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li><strong> Gather Strong Recommendations Early<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Some scholarships require letters of recommendation. So, first identify recommenders. You can ask teachers, counselors, or mentors who know you well and can provide a strong, personalized letter. Share a resume, transcript, or a list of accomplishments to help recommenders write detailed letters. Give your recommenders no less than two weeks to prepare.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li><strong> Gloat! Sing your own praises!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This isn\u2019t the time to be humble. It\u2019s the time to brag about all the great things you are doing academically and in the community.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"9\">\n<li><strong> Stay Persistent<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Don\u2019t get discouraged by rejection. Apply to as many scholarships as possible to increase chances of success. By staying organized, proactive, and persistent you can tackle the scholarship application process successfully.<\/p>\n<p>Be sure to stay connected with your school counselor and visit your campus Go Center.
