The PNC Championship took place<\/a> this weekend in Orlando, Florida, bringing together some of golf\u2019s most recognizable names alongside their family members. Played at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club<\/a>, the annual event once again highlighted the unique blend of competition and connection that sets it apart from the rest of the golf calendar.<\/p>\n By the end of the two-day tournament<\/a>, one team stood above the field. Matt Kuchar<\/a> and his son Cameron<\/a> delivered a dominant performance, capturing the 2025 PNC Championship<\/a> and etching their names into the event\u2019s history with a record-setting showing.<\/p>\n Dominant Performance Sets New Standard<\/strong><\/p>\n Matt and Cameron Kuchar crushed the field. The father-son duo fired a final-round 18-under-par 54<\/a>, one of the lowest rounds in the event\u2019s long history, to finish at an astonishing 33-under-par total. That score shattered the previous tournament record by five strokes and earned them a seven-shot victory margin over the nearest competition.<\/p>\n Their opening round set the tone for the weekend<\/a>. Team Kuchar burst out of the gate with a low 57, building a lead early and maintaining control through both days of competition. But he also made a few solos, and he\u2019d come right back and he\u2019d go, \u2018That was all me right there.\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n Emotional Triumph for Matt Kuchar<\/strong><\/p>\n While the scoring records and dominant play<\/a> were impressive, the most compelling storyline<\/a> of the week came from Matt\u2019s emotional journey<\/a>. In February 2025, he lost his father Peter, a presence who had often accompanied him at tournaments and played alongside him in past PNC Championships.<\/p>\n \n\u201cIt\u2019s pretty magical, and again, you go back to those things, if you believe in karma or fate or something greater from above, there\u2019s got to be something else going on,\u201d Matt said.<\/p>\n \n\u201cI know that I feel confident in my game, certainly his [Cameron] game. I keep seeing him improve and improve and it\u2019s so fun for me to see him continue to get better, and for him to put on a show when it really matters when cameras are out. I don\u2019t think he\u2019s been on a stage. He\u2019s played in some big junior events but certainly when you get on a national scene like this, it\u2019s unique and he rose to the occasion in a big way.\u201d<\/p>\n Cameron, who is headed to Texas Christian University<\/a> to play collegiate golf, \u00a0echoed the sentiment, celebrating not just the win but the bond he shares with his father<\/a> and the memories they continue to build through the game.<\/p>\n \n\u201cI was lucky today,\u201d Cameron said.
