The cherry on top? The poster shared a screenshot of their chat history with what appears to be a Samsung customer service representative.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 leading-7 text-[18px] md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0 charcoal-color\">The customer service agent wrote in the chat, &#8220;The device is out of warranty so if we will send the device to repair it will be chargeable. But I understand that you don&#8217;t like to send it to repair.&#8221; The representative explained that since the device was no longer under warranty and that a repair would cost the user money \u2014 something the customer indicated that they didn&#8217;t want \u2014 the next best option would be to purchase a new device.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 leading-7 text-[18px] md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0 charcoal-color\">In an attempt to sweeten the deal, the customer service representative offered the customer a 15% discount on a new phone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 leading-7 text-[18px] md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0 charcoal-color\">Prior to the forced update, the original poster&#8217;s phone had been working &#8220;perfectly fine,&#8221; and had been for the past four years that the OP owned the phone, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Anticonsumption\/comments\/1ooz7cp\/comment\/nn7s3oj\/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web3x&amp;utm_name=web3xcss&amp;utm_term=1&amp;utm_content=share_button\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:the OP clarified;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">the OP clarified<\/a> in the comments.
