{"id":466559,"date":"2025-12-23T12:15:16","date_gmt":"2025-12-23T12:15:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/466559\/"},"modified":"2025-12-23T12:15:16","modified_gmt":"2025-12-23T12:15:16","slug":"how-to-navigate-the-holiday-travel-rush","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/466559\/","title":{"rendered":"How to navigate the holiday travel rush"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>JACKSONVILLE, Fla.<\/strong> \u2013 As we move deeper into the holiday travel rush, airports across the country are preparing for record-breaking crowds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Millions of travelers are expected to fly between now and New Year\u2019s, and the TSA says it\u2019s ready\u2014but there are some changes passengers should know about before heading to the airport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">After the government shutdown, TSA says it\u2019s back to being fully staffed and ready for what could be a record-breaking holiday rush.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The agency expects to screen more than 44 million travelers nationwide during this holiday period, which runs through Jan. 4.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">If those numbers hold, it would be the busiest holiday stretch TSA has ever seen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">United Airlines says this will be its busiest winter holiday ever, with the days right after Christmas expected to be especially busy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">American Airlines is planning for an average of four flights taking off every minute during its holiday travel window.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Travelers may notice a few changes at airport security this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">TSA now requires passengers to have a REAL ID\u2013compliant license or another acceptable form of identification, so checking that before you leave home is key.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">TSA is also rolling out new options to help speed things up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">There are dedicated PreCheck lanes for military and other uniformed service members, and at some airports, separate screening lines for families.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">And for some passengers, there\u2019s good news\u2014depending on the airport and technology in place, travelers may no longer need to remove their shoes at security checkpoints.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">All of this comes as airlines prepare for packed planes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">AAA estimates more than 8 million people will fly within the U.S. this holiday season, making planning especially important.<\/p>\n<p><b>Ground travel<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">While millions are taking to the skies this holiday season, the vast majority of travelers will be staying closer to the ground.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">AAA says this Christmas and New Year\u2019s rush will bring record numbers of drivers onto the roads, and timing your trip could make all the difference.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">AAA estimates about 109.5 million people will travel by car this Christmas and New Year\u2019s holiday period. That\u2019s a 2% increase from last year, making road travel by far the most popular option.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Traffic experts say the weekend before Christmas\u2014Saturday and Sunday\u2014will be especially busy, as families head out early to beat the rush.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The day after Christmas, Friday, is also expected to see heavy congestion, as people make quick turnarounds or head out for New Year\u2019s plans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">There is some good news, though.
