It would be Perth\u2019s hottest Christmas Day since 2021, when the temperature reached 42.8C.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">The minimum on Perth\u2019s hottest night ever &#8211; in February 1898 and February 1933 &#8211; was 29.3C.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">For those hoping a trip to the beach will bring relief, BoM warned a sea breeze was unlikely, meaning temperatures would stay well above 30C into the evening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">It\u2019s little wonder then, that seafood and cold platters will dominate West Australians\u2019 Christmas menus this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Shoppers were out in force with eskies and cooler bags in Leederville from early Tuesday morning, as families stocked up on fresh seafood during Kailis\u2019 annual 36-hour trade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Owner Matt Kailis said the marathon shopping event carried special meaning this year at it marked the business\u2019s 100th year of serving WA families.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/3ba3eaf76fc49669ad32b09bdca880c76cc84383.jpg\" alt=\"Matt Kailis of Kailis Brothers. The marathon will run non-stop from 6am on Tuesday 23 December to Christmas Eve at 6pm Gary Ramage Credit: Gary Ramage\/The West Australian<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">The predicted heatwave comes with plenty of warnings, and authorities have appealed to West Australians to be vigilant about keeping themselves cool and hydrated and their food safe from spoiling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Mr Lawry was among those urging everyone to take extra precautions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">\u201cHydrate, stay out of the sun, and take those extra precautions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">The Department of Fire and Emergency Services deputy commissioner Craig Waters said WA\u2019s fire department was more prepared than ever to tackle any bushfires that flare up during the Christmas heatwave.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">A long list of regional shires and districts have already been put on notice and were issued with extreme fire danger warnings for Wednesday. Total fire bans were also in place for 18 local government areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-1ix6vwn-StyledParagraph e4e0a020\">Heatwave conditions are expected across the State\u2019s northern and southern regions.
