{"id":46689,"date":"2025-07-07T19:01:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-07T19:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/46689\/"},"modified":"2025-07-07T19:01:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-07T19:01:11","slug":"dallas-county-judge-gets-2nd-sanction-for-jailing-man-revoking-bond-despite-recusal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/46689\/","title":{"rendered":"Dallas County judge gets 2nd sanction for jailing man, revoking bond despite recusal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Dallas County Judge Amber Givens was again sanctioned by the state\u2019s judicial authority for jailing a man and revoking another\u2019s bond despite being recused from their cases, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scjc.texas.gov\/media\/bjafwygh\/givens24-0224-24-0355final-public-admonition-signed.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">disciplinary document made public Monday<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scjc.texas.gov\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.scjc.texas.gov\/\">The State Commission on Judicial Conduct<\/a> said Givens lacked the authority to intervene in both cases, the admonishment issued June 23 reads. The man participated in Givens\u2019 \u201cEmpowerment Program,\u201d a rehabilitative program about how to successfully complete probation, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ambergivens.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">according to Givens\u2019 campaign website<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">In fall 2023 \u2014 roughly nine months after a new judge was appointed \u2014 court staff informed Givens the man disrupted a program meeting and the judge ordered him to appear before her, the admonishment says. Again, the case was reassigned to a presiding judge. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">According to the admonishment, Givens believed a July 6, 2023, hearing was in her court, but it was before the presiding judge and the accused man was not required to appear.
