{"id":46825,"date":"2025-07-07T20:12:12","date_gmt":"2025-07-07T20:12:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/46825\/"},"modified":"2025-07-07T20:12:12","modified_gmt":"2025-07-07T20:12:12","slug":"trump-administration-says-it-will-deport-kilmar-abrego-garcia-before-his-trial-if-hes-released-from-criminal-custody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/46825\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump administration says it will deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia before his trial if he\u2019s released from criminal custody"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>      CNN<br \/>\n        \u00a0\u2014\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmctbc5fc001n27p34awlafvb@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The Trump administration will take steps to deport Kilmar Abrego Garcia before he goes to trial in Tennessee if he\u2019s released from criminal custody, which could happen as soon as next week, a Justice Department attorney said Monday.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmctddjth00073b6mk31c9t26@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The comments came during a wide-ranging court hearing in Maryland during which US District Judge Paula Xinis tried to pin down what the administration\u2019s plans are for Abrego Garcia, who was recently returned to the US to face charges of human smuggling after being wrongly deported to El Salvador in mid-March.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmctddjth00083b6mq2ma84n1@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cYou would not wait for the criminal case?\u201d Xinis asked DOJ attorney Jonathan Guynn at one point. The Department of Homeland Security \u201cis removing people from this country very fast \u2026 are you going to take the same speed with Mr. Abrego?\u201d <strong> <\/strong>\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmctdew2r000g3b6mqo26nga9@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cThere\u2019s no intention to just put him in limbo in ICE custody while we wait for the criminal case to unfold,\u201d Guynn replied. \u201cHe will be removed, as would any other illegal alien in that process.\u201d\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmctddjth00093b6mci0r40py@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            The latest indication from the Justice Department on its plans for Abrego Garcia, whose case has become a political football, come after weeks of top administration officials obstinately saying he would stand trial in the US following his indictment, while his defense attorneys have suspected and in multiple ways tried to stop a quick deportation.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmcteps8c00053b6nc6p8r8ow@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Abrego Garcia is currently in pre-trial detention in Tennessee, but could be released from that court\u2019s authority and turned over to DHS as soon as July 16.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmctddjth000a3b6m1crerets@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            \u201cIt\u2019s like trying to nail Jell-O to a wall trying to figure out what\u2019s going to happen next week,\u201d Xinis said at one point on Monday.\n    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cmctddjth000b3b6mrvixjubp@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">\n            Xinis, of the federal court in Greenbelt, Maryland, is overseeing a civil case brought by Abrego Garcia and his family after he was deported to El Salvador earlier this year in violation of a 2019 court order that barred his removal to that country.
