(Courtesy of OnScene.TV)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sdge.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">San Diego Gas &amp; Electric<\/a> said Tuesday it was taking proactive steps to prepare for an approaching <a href=\"https:\/\/timesofsandiego.com\/life\/2025\/12\/22\/san-diego-christmas-eve-storm-flood-watch-weather\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">winter storm<\/a>, pledging to prioritize public safety, minimize outages and ensure crews are ready to respond quickly to severe weather conditions.<\/p>\n<p>In the event of unplanned outages, SDG&amp;E said its crews \u201cwill work as quickly and safely as possible to restore power. We remain committed to customer safety and reliable service, with teams ready to respond at a moment\u2019s notice to reduce disruptions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The utility also offered several storm safety reminders:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Always assume downed power lines are energized, avoid them, and report them by calling 911 or the utility at 800-411-7343<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t touch anyone coming into contact with a power line and call 911 immediately<\/li>\n<li>If a downed line touches a car, remain inside and call 911<\/li>\n<li>Do not attempt to turn off power or disconnect gas service during an evacuation as equipment has safeguards in place<\/li>\n<li>Secure outdoor items to prevent them from damaging power lines<\/li>\n<li>Drive cautiously to decrease the risk of vehicle accidents involving electrical equipment<\/li>\n<li>Prepare an emergency kit with a battery-operated radio, flashlights and essential supplies while avoiding using candles during outages<\/li>\n<li>Have a backup plan for medical equipment needs<\/li>\n<li>Give SDG&amp;E crews space to work safely and efficiently<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>City News Service contributed to this article. <\/p>\n<p>READ NEXT<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A large tree down over power lines in La Jolla near Mt.
