{"id":469481,"date":"2025-12-24T20:49:16","date_gmt":"2025-12-24T20:49:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/469481\/"},"modified":"2025-12-24T20:49:16","modified_gmt":"2025-12-24T20:49:16","slug":"san-antonio-college-students-gain-real-world-journalism-experience-through-unique-mentorship-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/469481\/","title":{"rendered":"San Antonio College students gain real-world journalism experience through unique mentorship program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>SAN ANTONIO<\/strong> \u2013 San Antonio College students took on a challenging project: creating their own news stories from start to finish. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The journalism program placed them in a real-world situation, requiring them to pitch story ideas, find interviewees, film, write and edit everything themselves.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The hands-on experience came through a partnership between Dr. Pedro Cabrera, MJE program coordinator of journalism at San Antonio College, and Armando Camina, CEO of the nonprofit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hopefaithdreams.org\/sanantonioinspires\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.hopefaithdreams.org\/sanantonioinspires\">Hope Faith and Dreams Foundation<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Together, they provided students with real broadcast-journalism experience, teaching leadership, community engagement and media success skills. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The mentorship program, in which KSAT is a partner, reflects the shared goal of San Antonio College and the Hope Faith and Dreams Foundation to promote cooperation, teaching and mentorship for aspiring journalists. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The program selects eight dedicated students to work in two teams.
