Vanity Fair announced on Dec. 10 that its annual Oscars after party, where Academy Award winners pop champagne and celebrate their newly-bestowed golden statuettes, will be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art following the awards show on March 15. The announcement marks the party\u2019s departure from the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, where it had been held since 2015.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe idea of Hollywood has never been more expansive than it is today,\u201d read a statement from Mark Guiducci, global editorial director of Vanity Fair. \u201cThe film industry intersects with so many disciplines and the silos between them are breaking down. Artists make films. Sports stars are producers. Movie moguls fund art museums. And technology is embedded throughout. We\u2019re thrilled to capture that energy with a cultural institution that undergirds the importance of Los Angeles and the industry at a time when Vanity Fair and LACMA are both entering exciting new chapters.\u201d<\/p>\n
The after party will be held in LACMA\u2019s new David Geffen Galleries, the museum\u2019s 110,000-square foot expansion project designed by Swiss architect Peter Zumthor. The museum will host the event shortly before the galleries open to the public in April. Major construction of the new building finished in late 2024, and the museum has since been completing dining and retail spaces and installing artwork, including outdoor works such as Jeff Koons\u2019 \u201cSplit-Rocker\u201d sculpture, which is now visible from Wilshire Boulevard.<\/p>\n
\u201cVanity Fair has long been part of LACMA\u2019s story, from an exhibition of the magazine\u2019s photo archives in 2008 to the magazine\u2019s publication of a restaging of a historic artist photo in 2016,\u201d LACMA CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director Michael Govan said in a statement. \u201cWe are excited to forge this new partnership with Vanity Fair and to create new stories together, especially as we embark on an exciting chapter for the museum with the opening of our new building, the David Geffen Galleries.\u201d<\/p>\n
The L.A.-bound Oscars after party was held in Beverly Hills for 10 years between 2015 and 2025. The city has a long history of hosting some of Hollywood\u2019s starriest awards shows and after parties. The Golden Globes are held each year at the Beverly Hilton, and will return to the iconic hotel on Jan. 11.<\/p>\n
