{"id":470502,"date":"2025-12-25T09:49:21","date_gmt":"2025-12-25T09:49:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/470502\/"},"modified":"2025-12-25T09:49:21","modified_gmt":"2025-12-25T09:49:21","slug":"wanted-fugitive-captured-after-attempting-to-flee-hotel-near-gulf-freeway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/470502\/","title":{"rendered":"Wanted fugitive captured after attempting to flee hotel near Gulf Freeway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>HOUSTON<\/strong> \u2013 A wanted fugitive who previously escaped from custody after being taken to a hospital is back in custody following an arrest at a southeast Houston hotel, according to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">On Dec. 24, 2025, deputies with Constable Mark Herman\u2019s Special Operations Unit, Criminal Investigations Division, and the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force located James Willis III at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in the 9100 block of the Gulf Freeway.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 kDvXdO font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 ecGWWE iQviKm\"\/><\/ul>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Investigators say Willis was wanted after escaping custody on Dec. 20 while being treated at Houston Northwest Hospital. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Authorities say Willis had been under arrest for aggravated assault of a family member, burglary, felon in possession of a firearm, and violation of bond and a protective order in a family violence case.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">When deputies attempted to serve felony warrants at the hotel, officials say Willis tried to evade arrest by forcing open an exterior door and fleeing on foot.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 kDvXdO font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 ecGWWE iQviKm\"\/><\/ul>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">A Precinct 4 canine, identified as R.E.
