{"id":470965,"date":"2025-12-25T15:10:18","date_gmt":"2025-12-25T15:10:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/470965\/"},"modified":"2025-12-25T15:10:18","modified_gmt":"2025-12-25T15:10:18","slug":"29-dogs-found-inside-texas-home-after-alleged-pit-bull-attack-outside-officials-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/470965\/","title":{"rendered":"29 dogs found inside Texas home after alleged pit bull attack outside, officials say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Twenty-nine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/topic\/animals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/topic\/animals\/\">dogs<\/a> were found inside a home in Van Zandt County after reports of a dog <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/crime\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/crime\/\">attack<\/a> that left one man injured, according to a statement from the Van Zandt County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Around 11:25 a.m. Monday, Van Zandt County Sheriff\u2019s Office deputies were dispatched to the 28400 block of Interstate 20 after reports of a medical emergency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Officials found a 53-year-old man who had sustained multiple dog bite injuries from two adult pit bull mix dogs. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">He was transported to the Christus Mother Frances Emergency Room and later life-flighted to the University of Texas Medical Center in Tyler for further treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Crime in The News<\/p>\n<p class=\"dmnc_features-cta-social-article-cta-social-module__3beff secondaryRoman secondaryRoman-20 text-center text-gray-dark\">Read the crime and public safety news your neighbors are talking about.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dmnc_features-cta-social-article-cta-social-module__8MgJa flex flex-wrap text-gray-dark secondaryRoman secondaryRoman-10 text-center justify-center\">By signing up, you agree to our\u00a0<a class=\"dmnc_features-cta-social-article-cta-social-module__lU9-l border-b border-gray-dark hover_border-0 focus_border-0 active_border-0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/help\/terms-of-service\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Terms of Service<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a class=\"dmnc_features-cta-social-article-cta-social-module__lU9-l border-b border-gray-dark hover_border-0 focus_border-0 active_border-0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/help\/privacy-policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Privacy Policy.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">As of Wednesday morning, the victim remained hospitalized in stable condition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Investigators found the two dogs and determined that neither dog had been vaccinated, the statement said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The dog owner voluntarily surrendered custody of the dogs to the sheriff\u2019s office for testing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Additionally, deputies discovered 29 other dogs inside the residence and requested assistance from the SPCA of Texas Response Team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The SPCA said it was assisting with the housing and care of the dogs that weren\u2019t a part of the incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cOur hearts are with the man who was seriously injured in this incident,\u201d an SPCA spokesperson wrote in a statement. \u201cAt this time, the SPCA of Texas\u2019 role is focused on animal welfare support related to the dogs now in our care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The incident remains under investigation.
