A Lewisville firefighter and father of three young children was killed Thursday night in a motorcycle crash in Fort Worth, officials said.<\/p>\n
The Lewisville Fire Department said in a Facebook post Friday morning that Michael Swope died while off duty. Swope had served with the department since 2019.<\/p>\n
Fort Worth police said the motorcyclist, later identified as Swope, was traveling eastbound when he struck a guard rail and was thrown from the motorcycle. Swope died from his injuries, and the department\u2019s Traffic Investigation Unit was notified to investigate the crash.<\/p>\n
“Beyond his roles as a Paramedic and a Field Training Officer (FTO), he was a pillar of professionalism and a kind soul to all who knew him,” the Facebook post read. “More importantly, Michael was a follower of Christ who loved the lord, a devoted caring husband and a father to three beautiful children. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time.”<\/p>\n
The Lewisville Fire Department has launched a fundraiser to support Swope\u2019s family<\/a> via the website HelpAHero.com.<\/p>\n The Lewisville Police Department also paid tribute on social media, describing Swope as \u201cdeeply respected.\u201d<\/p>\n The\u00a0Lewisville Fire Fighters Association honored Swope in a Facebook post, saying in part:<\/p>\n “He was known for his great sense of humor and the way he could instantly lift the mood with his laugh. More than that, Michael always looked out for his fellow firefighters and made sure everyone around him was taken care of.<\/p>\n At home, Michael was a loving husband who cherished his wife and a devoted father who took immense pride in his children.
