{"id":471798,"date":"2025-12-26T01:12:18","date_gmt":"2025-12-26T01:12:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/471798\/"},"modified":"2025-12-26T01:12:18","modified_gmt":"2025-12-26T01:12:18","slug":"martin-scorsese-pens-tribute-to-rob-reiner-remembers-scene-in-wolf-of-wall-street","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/471798\/","title":{"rendered":"Martin Scorsese pens tribute to Rob Reiner, remembers scene in &#8216;Wolf of Wall Street&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Legendary director Martin Scorsese penned a heartfelt essay to fellow filmmaker and \u201cfriend\u201d Rob Reiner, in which he recalled a memorable scene he shot in one of his movies that has taken on a whole new meaning since he and his wife, Michele\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/12\/14\/us-news\/2-dead-at-rob-reiners-la-home-lapds-robbery-homicide-division-respond\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">brutal murder allegedly at the hands of their son<\/a>, Nick.<\/p>\n<p>Scorsese, 83, and Reiner were friends for decades after growing close in Los Angeles in the early 1970s, bonding over their New York roots and shared love of comedy. <\/p>\n<p>When it came time to cast for his 2013 film \u201cThe Wolf of Wall Street,\u201d Scorsese immediately thought of Reiner to play Max Belfort, the father of Leonardo DiCaprio\u2019s character, Jordan Belfort, who was based on a real-life crooked stock trader.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"38021572\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/2025-year-time-event-current-117130137.jpg\" alt=\"Martin Scorsese speaking at the 2025 A Year In TIME Event.\" class=\"wp-image-38021572\"  \/>Martin Scorsese called the brutal murder of friend Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele \u201can obscenity\u201d in a heartfelt NYT tribute.
