fireworks show<\/a> that starts at midnight just a few blocks from the theater.<\/p>\n“This is a show for my type of people,” Williams said in a phone interview. “One where you just do the\u00a0show\u00a0and you want to be\u00a0done\u00a0before midnight.”<\/p>\n
He said it’s almost unheard of for him to be free on New Year’s Eve.<\/p>\n
“Comedians\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0really\u00a0get New Year’s Eve off,” he said. “It’s\u00a0a great night;\u00a0you’re\u00a0probably going\u00a0to sell\u00a0out, everyone\u00a0likes to go out and laugh and have\u00a0a good time.”<\/p>\n
Williams said he plans to join the crowds welcoming 2026, something that’s out of the ordinary for him. He’s not usually one to hang out after his show is finished.<\/p>\n
“So many\u00a0people\u00a0think that my life is cocaine and hookers,” he said. “Normally\u00a0you\u2019d\u00a0find me with my opening acts in a\u00a0Waffle\u00a0House\u00a0trying\u00a0to make people laugh.”<\/p>\n
Williams has been a professional comedian for more than 20 years and has several cable standup specials and TV and movie appearances on his resume. Williams has an unusual perspective on comedy \u2014 he stands just 4-foot-4 and isn’t afraid to offend anyone.<\/p>\n
“A lot of topics that are sensitive to\u00a0people\u00a0and they might get offended,” he said. “Oh, well.\u00a0Getting offended is an involuntary response. If\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0talking\u00a0about\u00a0something that\u00a0directly\u00a0applies to you and I get something wrong, by all means, correct\u00a0me. But if\u00a0I\u00a0talk about something that has nothing to do with yourself whatsoever and you get\u00a0offended, I really don’t care.”<\/p>\n
Many big-name comedians make fans disable their cell phones at concerts by putting them in a bag that blocks all recording and transmission. Williams said he doesn’t go that far, but he understands why some comedians do. Instead, he asks his audience not to record anything.<\/p>\n
“Would I like\u00a0people\u00a0to not record\u00a0my set?\u00a0Well,\u00a0yeah.\u00a0Comedy\u00a0has to\u00a0be an in-the-moment thing.\u00a0We\u2019re\u00a0trying\u00a0stuff out, without a net,\u00a0and usually\u00a0writing a bunch of stuff for a new special.\u00a0The jokes\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0telling you, I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0want to get out yet.”<\/p>\n
Williams has a role in the new “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues” movie, and says he got yelled at by Elton John on the set. He’s not saying exactly what role he plays, but Spinal Tap fans shouldn’t have difficulty figuring out where a guy of his stature fits in. “It was a great honor. I was a fan of the first one as well.\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0not spoiling anything by telling you what\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0doing in the film.
