{"id":47289,"date":"2025-07-08T00:15:13","date_gmt":"2025-07-08T00:15:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/47289\/"},"modified":"2025-07-08T00:15:13","modified_gmt":"2025-07-08T00:15:13","slug":"fourth-generation-houston-area-family-share-memories-at-camp-mystic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/47289\/","title":{"rendered":"Fourth generation Houston area family share memories at Camp Mystic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\"><strong>Houston<\/strong> \u2013 A Houston area family with deep ties to Camp Mystic is sharing memories of attending the private all-girls Christian camp throughout the years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cEvery woman in my family across four generations has attended Camp Mystic,&#8221; said Ashley Emshoff, who said she went to the camp throughout the 90\u2019s. \u201cI\u2019m hoping to send my grandkids there one day.\u201d<\/p>\n<ul class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 kDvXdO font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__StackBase-sc-1fnzlkn-7 ecGWWE iQviKm\"\/><\/ul>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Her daughters, Mallory and Brinley, grew up going to Camp Mystic, as well. Both were at the campsite as aides just a week prior to the devastating floods which took the lives of 27 campers and counselors on Fourth of July.<\/p>\n<p>Camp Mystic (kprc)<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">KPRC 2 sat down with the family on Monday as they walked down memory lane at the camp that\u2019s been nestled in Texas\u2019 Hills Country for almost 100 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The family has collected everything from pictures, cassette taps, stuffed animals, and songbooks from over the years at the camp.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">This summer camp is a place with over 750 girls each year and activities like canoeing, singing, praying and drawing. Each year, the camp strives to make each camper a better person.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s not just a summer camp,\u201d said Emshoff. \u201cIt is so much bigger than that. I am the way I am because of the camp.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Camp Mystic (kprc)<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The family tells KPRC 2 campers build a special kind of sisterhood with other campers and they were heartbroken to hear about the deadly floods.
