{"id":473297,"date":"2025-12-26T18:05:16","date_gmt":"2025-12-26T18:05:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/473297\/"},"modified":"2025-12-26T18:05:16","modified_gmt":"2025-12-26T18:05:16","slug":"officials-to-provide-update-on-mandatory-conserve-water-order","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/473297\/","title":{"rendered":"Officials to provide update on mandatory conserve water order"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SYRACUSE, N.Y. \u2014 Onondaga County officials are scheduled to provide an update on Friday regarding the mandatory conserve water order.<\/p>\n<p>Executive McMahon and the Onondaga County Water Authority&#8217;s news conference is scheduled for 3 p.m. It will be livestreamed to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@CNYCentralNews\/streams\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNY Central YouTube Channel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During the county&#8217;s last update, on Dec. 24, officials indicated that people may need to conserve their water for longer than two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s because the OWCA is <a href=\"https:\/\/cnycentral.com\/news\/local\/repairs-on-major-water-main-break-may-take-longer-than-expected-but-theres-good-news-onondaga-county-water-authority\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">waiting for several pieces of equipment<\/a> to fix the pipe. OWCA Executive Director Jeff Brown said a water pump is coming from the Midwest. That piece of equipment is scheduled to arrive in Cicero, where the water main break occurred on Dec. 20, on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>However, as of 11:30 a.m. on Friday, it hasn&#8217;t arrived.<\/p>\n<p>The mandate affects the towns of Manlius, Pompey, DeWitt, Sullivan, Lenox and Lincoln.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Water conservation tips from the OWCA:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Comment with Bubbles<\/p>\n<p>BE THE FIRST TO COMMENT<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Using laundry facilities in unaffected parts of the OCWA system (western and northern Onondaga County).<\/li>\n<li>Adjust all water-using appliances to use the minimum amount of water.<\/li>\n<li>Running the dishwasher and washing machine at full load. If you wash dishes by hand, use a bucket or container with soapy water and only use the faucet for quick rinsing of scrubbed dishes.<\/li>\n<li>Taking 5-minute showers and shallower baths. Turn off the shower while soaping; turn off the faucet while brushing teeth, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Reducing the number of toilet flushes per day.
