A Dallas city initiative offers neighborhood volunteers with free access<\/a> to gardening and cleanup tools in an effort to support community beautification projects.<\/p>\n

The Community Hand Tool Program, offered by the Department of Code Compliance, makes landscaping equipment available at no cost<\/a> to qualified neighborhood groups and nonprofit organizations. <\/p>\n

The program is designed to help residents maintain green spaces, manage vegetation and remove litter during weekend cleanup efforts or other local beautification events. <\/p>\n

Volunteer groups that qualify for the program can borrow a range of tools \u2014 including lawnmowers, string trimmers, hedgers, pole saws, rakes, brooms and shovels \u2014 on a first-come, first-served basis. Equipment is loaned for planned projects in all areas of the city. <\/p>\n

Requirements <\/p>\n

To participate, groups must be recognized nonprofit organizations, neighborhood associations or other community-based organizations, and they must submit requests at least two weeks before their planned use of equipment.<\/p>\n

Volunteers are also required to complete an equipment loaner agreement<\/a> and attend a safety and training presentation before taking tools home. <\/p>\n

Keep Dallas Beautiful<\/a> is an initiative that is part of broader efforts by the Code Compliance Department to engage residents and local groups in maintaining neighborhood standards and improve the quality of life throughout Dallas. <\/p>\n
