The account @BebopOtt <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BebopOtt\/status\/2001361563471745054\">posted<\/a> a screenshot with his entry and wrote, \u201cEveryone else go home \u2014 this is the year we secure ABOLISH ICE on a Chicago Snowplow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The following day, the mayor\u2019s X account <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ChicagosMayor\/status\/2001735382879113306\">reposted<\/a> that submission with an emoji of intrigued eyes. It was a tacit nod to the local sentiment against President Donald Trump\u2019s Operation Midway Blitz, which for months besieged the Chicago area\u2019s immigrant communities with widespread deportation raids. But according to Johnson\u2019s press team, there\u2019s nothing political about that slogan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cthis IS a fun, light-hearted and nonpolitical,\u201d the account who entered \u201cABOLISH ICE\u201d as a submission wrote in one reply to a naysayer. \u201cnot sure why you\u2019re trying to bring politics into it \u2014 i am merely stating an objective fact that snowplows \u2018abolish ice.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The mayor\u2019s press account <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ChicagoMPO\/status\/2001758806326345970?s=20\">affirmed<\/a>, \u201cTrue.\u201d This week, Johnson\u2019s team shared more links to news outlets drawing attention to that submission.<\/p>\n<p>Entries for snowplow names close Jan. 10. At the end of the two-phase contest, residents will pick the top six names. Previous winners have included \u201cSalter Payton,\u201d \u201cJean Baptiste Point du Shovel\u201d and \u201cLollaplowlooza.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though abolishing the federal agency handling immigration enforcement entirely started as a left-wing battle cry, the Trump administration\u2019s deportation campaign has remained widely unpopular in Chicago. That operation began in September and wound down after over two months, but Border Patrol Cmdr.
