{"id":473809,"date":"2025-12-26T23:48:10","date_gmt":"2025-12-26T23:48:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/473809\/"},"modified":"2025-12-26T23:48:10","modified_gmt":"2025-12-26T23:48:10","slug":"google-will-let-users-swap-out-gmail-addresses-without-losing-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/473809\/","title":{"rendered":"Google will let users swap out Gmail addresses without losing data"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Google has finally answered users\u2019 cries, allowing Gmail users to swap out embarrassing teenage email addresses. <\/p>\n<p>Gmail account holders can now change their existing @<a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/gmail.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gmail.com<\/a> address while retaining their data and services.<\/p>\n<p>Once changed, old email addresses will remain active, and users will continue to receive emails sent to both the old and new addresses. <\/p>\n<p>Saved data connected to earlier addresses, including photos, messages and emails, will not be affected.<\/p>\n<p>The ability to change Google Account email addresses is gradually rolling out to all users, and is not immediately available to everyone, Google noted on its <a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/accounts\/answer\/19870?dark=0&amp;sjid=13129471057818824497-NA&amp;hl=hi&amp;co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&amp;oco=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">support page<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Gmail users who want to switch to more anonymous email addresses or felt burdened by the email addresses they chose as kids celebrated the update on social media. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cFeature needed: 2005. Gap: two decades of suffering,\u201d one user posted on X. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo all those years of \u2018cool\u2019 usernames and cringe emails can be erased\u2026 shame it can\u2019t delete the memories associated with them,\u201d another X user posted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNah I\u2019m keeping StonerBeast42069 forever!!\u201d one Reddit user quipped.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the transgender community and others who have changed their names were also happy as the new options let them distance themselves from their former names. <\/p>\n<p>Competing services such as Microsoft Outlook have long allowed users to easily change their primary address by adding an \u201calias.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Google only allows accounts that end in @<a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/gmail.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gmail.com<\/a> to make changes, and the new address must also end in @<a class=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/gmail.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gmail.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While users can reuse their old Google Account email address anytime, once changed, they cannot register another email address for the same account for the next 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>Users interested in changing their emails under the new system need to confirm that it has been rolled out for their account. <\/p>\n<p>In their Gmail account, users can click \u201cManage Your Google Account.\u201d Under \u201cPersonal Info,\u201d they can click on their Gmail account email address.
