It stands to reason that the Dallas Cowboys are going to make a change at defensive coordinator sometime soon. For the most part, the Cowboys defense has been objectively awful across the entire season. The team as a whole had the three-game winning streak where everything was sort of working together, but the defense has let the group down time after time after time after time.<\/p>\n
Consider that Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and Javonte Williams have each had amazing years on offense, and that the offense as a whole has been among the very best in the NFL. They have partly had to be so great because they have had to try and put up more points to make up for where the defense is falling apart, and it seems that Jerry Jones is pretty much at his limit with this whole thing.<\/p>\n
Jones appeared on 105.3 The Fan on Friday morning and noted that he is not pleased with the defensive scheme or defensive coaching staff. He added a bit of optimism in saying that he believes they can accomplish all of the work that needs to be done there, but this certainly sounds ominous as far as the defensive staff is concerned specifically.<\/p>\n
Much is made about how current defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus is the third that the Cowboys have had in as many years. Jerry has noted that this is partly his fault as he hired Mike Zimmer last year in a situation where it was likely it was going to be of a one-year variety.<\/p>\n
When seasons are as bad as this Cowboys one is there is always a necessary fall guy.
