She managed to become a \u201csupercentenarian\u201d \u2013 a person aged 110 or older \u2013 without any of the above.<\/p>\n<p>Born in 1909, Caterham has lived through both world wars, the Great Depression, world-changing advances in technology and two major pandemics: the Spanish Flu and <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/topics\/coronavirus-pandemic-all-stories?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"noopener\">Covid-19<\/a>, the latter of which she contracted and survived in 2020 at the age of 110.
