A 15-year-old and a 75-year-old died after a crash on the Beltway in Northern Virginia on Christmas night, authorities say.<\/p>\n
The deadly crash occurred on I-495 eastbound at the 49 mile marker in Fairfax County, Virginia State Police said. The victims\u2019 names were not immediately released.<\/p>\n
State troopers were called to the crash scene after 10:40 p.m. after \u201cwitnesses reported a Toyota Sienna Minivan located in the eastbound Express Lanes with heavy rear-end damage,\u201d police said in a statement.<\/p>\n
All six people in the minivan were taken to a hospital. A 75-year-old woman and a 15-year-old, both passengers, died of their injuries, police said.<\/p>\n
A short distance from the minivan, \u201con the mainlines of Interstate 495,\u201d troopers found a \u201cdamaged Dodge Ram pickup truck\u201d with two injured occupants. Both also were taken to a hospital.<\/p>\n
Police believe the crash \u201cmay have actually occurred in the main lines of Interstate 495, not the Express Lanes.\u201d An investigation into its cause is underway.<\/p>\n
