{"id":475208,"date":"2025-12-27T15:31:30","date_gmt":"2025-12-27T15:31:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/475208\/"},"modified":"2025-12-27T15:31:30","modified_gmt":"2025-12-27T15:31:30","slug":"exclusive-people-share-hopes-dreams-on-display-at-nycs-new-years-eve-wishing-wall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/475208\/","title":{"rendered":"Exclusive | People share hopes, dreams on display at NYC&#8217;s New Year&#8217;s Eve &#8216;Wishing Wall&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hundreds flocked to the annual New Year\u2019s Even Wishing Wall in Times Square this week, dreaming of very human things such as getting in shape, finding romance \u2014 and a world with \u201cno more AI.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The plea to eliminate artificial intelligence was among those scribbled out on tiny squares of tissue paper at the Wishing Wall, which has been open since Dec. 1 and attracted visitors from around the world.<\/p>\n<p>The papers will be among the 3,000 pounds of confetti tossed into the Manhattan sky by volunteers after the ball drops at midnight on Dec. 31.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo more AI\u201d was one of the wishes at the annual Times Square activity. J.C. Rice<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timessquarenyc.org\/events\/nye-wishing-wall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wishing Wall<\/a> \u2014 located on Broadway between West 45th and 47th streets \u2014 received 183,000\u00a0wishes so far as of this week, including ones submitted online.<\/p>\n<p>Many want to enrich their lives, with wishes such as \u201cread lots of books,\u201d \u201chave my dream body\u201d and \u201cfall in love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Others have dollar signs in their dreams, and are hoping to purchase \u201ca new car,\u201d \u201ca new house,\u201d \u201ca walk-in closet,\u201d and even \u201ca new pair of glasses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some submissions \u2014 such as \u201cno more potholes,\u201d \u201cmy fave restaurants stay in business\u201d and \u201cfor 311 to be effective\u201d \u2014 were Big Apple-centric.<\/p>\n<p>Gymnast Leah Frisbie, 11, revealed her wish to The Post at the wall on Monday \u2014 \u201cto get my aerial.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s basically just a cartwheel, but with no hands,\u201d explained Frisbie, who is from Athens, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>High schooler Alaina Small of Nashua, New Hampshire, also had an athletic goal in mind.<\/p>\n<p>Leah Frisbie, 11, is striving to achieve a gymnastics feat. Rice<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wish to win the New Hampshire D1 Basketball Championship,\u201d said Small, a 15-year-old point guard who has been playing basketball since the age of 4.<\/p>\n<p>The college kids who stopped by jotted down wishes for self care and lasting love.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGet skinny,\u201d was University of Alabama student Sawyer Brooks\u2019 wish.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel like I am more confident in myself when I\u2019m skinnier, and I feel better about myself every day when I wake up,\u201d said Brooks, 21, of Oxford, Alabama.<\/p>\n<p>University of Alabama student Sawyer Brooks, 21, is hoping to \u201cget skinny.\u201d J.C. Rice<\/p>\n<p>Emma Kate Sohoski, 21, celebrated her boyfriend with her wish for 2026. J.C. Rice<\/p>\n<p>Emma Kate Sohoski, 21, a student at Florida Gulf Coast University, was visiting the wall on the 13-month anniversary of dating her boyfriend Caden, and wrote both of their names and a heart on a piece of confetti \u201cso that we can have a happy 2026 together,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Adding to the love in the air in Times Square was a newly engaged couple.<\/p>\n<p>Jason Hrdina of Raleigh, North Carolina, was visiting with Paige Degner-Williamson \u2014 who he had just proposed to at the Rockefeller Center ice rink.<\/p>\n<p>Paige Degner-Williamson, top left, wished for a happy future for her new blended family.
