The Jacksonville Fire and Emergency Services announced receiving a large donation of pet oxygen mask kits from Jacksonville Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Thomas, with her staff, is leading this donation effort in a display of community partnership and aims to enhance the department’s ability to save lives, including humans and pets, according to officials.<\/p>\n
A presentation of the equipment is scheduled to take place at Jacksonville Fire Station 1 on Wednesday, July 9, at 1 p.m.<\/p>\n
Officials say these masks are specially designed to fit the unique anatomy of pets, allowing firefighters to administer life-saving care for dogs, cats, and other animals suffering from smoke inhalation during an emergency situation.<\/p>\n
