The point of the video \u2014 aside from pure, visceral entertainment \u2014 was to announce Hanse\u2019s appointment as one of the TGL\u2019s virtual-course designers. The screen-golf league also released images of a Hanse-designed par 5 called \u201cStone & Steeple.\u201d I offered an analysis of the hole in our new Fried Egg Golf Club community forum<\/a>, if you\u2019re into that kind of thing.<\/p>\n

But what really got me thinking was an X reply from Craig Mosier<\/a>: \u201cWould like to see the newsletter tackle walk-up music for other architects.\u201d<\/p>\n

We live to serve. Ahead of TGL\u2019s season-opening match on Sunday afternoon, my Fried Egg golf colleagues helped me come up with the ideas below, so please don\u2019t blame me exclusively.<\/p>\n

Donald Ross<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 \u201cArea Codes\u201d by Ludacris ft. Nate Dogg<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rumors persist that Ross had a mistress or two in Rochester, New York, in the 1920s. Perhaps it\u2019s no coincidence that he designed several courses in the area.<\/p>\n

Tommy Fazio II \u2013 \u201cNo Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems\u201d by Kenny Chesney<\/strong><\/p>\n

This scion of the Fazio golf architecture dynasty has been known to work on his designs and his tan simultaneously.<\/p>\n

C.B. Macdonald<\/strong><\/a> and <\/strong>Seth Raynor<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 \u201cYou Copying Me\u201d by T-Pain<\/strong><\/p>\n

A template-hole anthem!<\/p>\n

Rees Jones \u2013 \u201cBehind Blue Eyes\u201d by The Who<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jones has become something of a \u201cbad man\u201d in the minds of golf architecture enthusiasts recently.<\/p>\n

Pete Dye<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 \u201cI\u2019ve Been Working on the Railroad\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n

Dye is renowned for his love of railroads. Well, railroad ties. Close enough.<\/p>\n

Robert Trent Jones<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 \u201cBreakaway\u201d by Kelly Clarkson<\/strong><\/p>\n

After World War II, the American golf world was ready to break away from the architectural heritage of the Golden Age, and RTJ was eager to help.<\/p>\n

George Thomas<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 \u201cEvery Rose Has Its Thorn\u201d by Poison<\/strong><\/p>\n

No doubt the architect behind Riviera<\/a> and LACC North<\/a> had a passion for designing golf courses. But he seemed to prefer growing award-winning roses in his garden.<\/p>\n

Coore & Crenshaw<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 \u201cSmooth Operator\u201d by Sade<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bill and Ben are the smoothest operators in the business \u2014 both in blending golf features into the natural terrain and in getting their hands on the best sites available.<\/p>\n

Perry Maxwell<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 \u201cPotato Chips\u201d by Slim Gaillard<\/strong><\/p>\n

Maxwell was the Golden Age\u2019s leading sculptor of potato chip-shaped greens. And yes, I found this song by Googling \u201cpotato chip song.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harry Colt<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 \u201cNature Boy\u201d by Nat King Cole<\/strong><\/p>\n

Colt was the godfather of naturalism in golf architecture. That\u2019s not what \u201cNature Boy\u201d is about, but look, I\u2019m running out of ideas here.<\/p>\n
