Sonja Flemming\/CBS<\/p>\n<p>Romano as Ray Barone during Season 7 of \u201cEverybody Loves Raymond.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, the episode <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GcV73TDn9Pc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">quickly went off the rails<\/a> after Ray witnessed his brother\u2019s love interest eat a dead fly from off the dining room table.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know what I think of a lot?\u201d Garrett, 65, said during the cast\u2019s\u00a0recent <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/11\/entertainment\/everybody-loves-raymond-cast-reunites-for-30th-anniversary-cbs-special\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">30th anniversary reunion\u00a0special.<\/a> \u201cThe episode where the girl Robert was dating ate the fly. And when you tried to tell me what you saw in the kitchen, the scene was so great.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI almost passed out,\u201d Romano, 68, responded. \u201cI hyperventilated, and if you look very closely, you see me go,\u00a0oop,\u00a0oop, because I was gonna pass out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elizabeth Bogush as Angela, eating a dead fly during a Season 7 episode of \u201cEverybody Loves Raymond.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Romano revealed that he \u201calmost passed out\u201d after watching Bogush\u2019s character eat the dead fly.<\/p>\n<p>But Garrett wasn\u2019t going to let his former onscreen brother forget how he reacted during the hilarious incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho hyperventilates saying a line?\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody Loves Raymond\u201d premiered in September 1996 and ran for nine seasons until its finale in May 2005.<\/p>\n<p>The show earned a whopping 69 Emmy nominations and won 15, including awards for Romano, Patricia Heaton (Debra Barone), Doris Roberts (Marie Barone) and Garrett. Sonja Flemming\/CBS<\/p>\n<p>Last month, the sitcom\u2019s surviving cast members headed back to Long Island for the \u201cEverybody Loves Raymond: 30th Anniversary Reunion\u201d special.<\/p>\n<p>The highly anticipated special saw Romano reunite with Garrett,\u00a0Heaton,\u00a0Monica Horan (Amy MacDougall-Barone),\u00a0Madylin Sweeten (Ally Barone), Sullivan Sweeten (Michael Barone) and series creator\u00a0Phil Rosenthal on a recreated set of the Barone living room.<\/p>\n<p>Romano revealed that he was <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/24\/entertainment\/ray-romano-reveals-he-was-intimidated-by-peter-boyle-in-30th-reunion-special\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cintimidated\u201d by Peter Boyle<\/a> during their first meeting. Boyle, who died in 2006 at 71, portrayed Ray\u2019s grumpy but lovable father, Frank Barone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was an imposing figure,\u201d Romano recalled during the special. \u201cI didn\u2019t know then how sweet he really was. He could tell I was nervous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Romano, Garrett, Boyle, Heaton and Roberts in a promo for \u201cEverybody Loves Raymond.\u201d \u00a9CBS\/Courtesy Everett Collection \/ Everett Collection<\/p>\n<p>Garrett and Romano, 30 years after the premiere of \u201cEverybody Loves Raymond.\u201d Sonja Flemming\/CBS<\/p>\n<p>Rosenthal, meanwhile, revealed that he chose Romano and Heaton, 67, to play Ray and Debra because the pair <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/28\/entertainment\/patricia-heaton-landed-everybody-loves-raymond-role-thanks-to-this-wild-audition-move\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201chad the most spectacular chemistry.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always said that Patty Heaton\u2019s the best wife on television,\u201d the sitcom creator, 65, shared.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re forgetting one little key element that really sold me on you during that first audition,\u201d Romano chimed in. \u201cThat\u2019s how desperate I was to get the job.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cEverybody Loves Raymond\u201d cast also made a point to <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/24\/entertainment\/everybody-loves-raymond-cast-addresses-the-suicide-of-sawyer-sweeten-in-reunion-special-we-miss-him\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">remember their former co-stars<\/a> who have passed away since the beloved sitcom ended 30 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>Romano and Heaton on the recreated set of \u201cEverybody Loves Raymond\u201d for the sitcom\u2019s 30th anniversary special. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Roberts, who portrayed Ray\u2019s onscreen mother Marie Barone, died in 2016 at the age of 90.<\/p>\n<p>Sawyer Sweeten, who played Ray and Debra\u2019s son Geoffrey, tragically\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2015\/04\/24\/former-everybody-loves-raymond-child-star-kills-himself\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">died by suicide<\/a>\u00a0in April 2015 at 19. He was Sullivan and Madylin Sweeten\u2019s real-life brother.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, Sawyer, of course, is no longer with us, and we miss him,\u201d Romano said during the reunion episode last month. \u201cAnd he, just like you are, was this bright energy.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Romano during an NBA game at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, on Nov. 18, 2025. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The episode later showed a photo of Sawyer on screen alongside the text: \u201cIn loving memory of Sawyer Sweeten, 1995-2015.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Romano, Heaton and Garrett have <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/23\/entertainment\/ray-romano-patricia-heaton-on-everybody-loves-raymond-reboot-rumors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ruled out a proper \u201cEverybody Loves Raymond\u201d reboot<\/a> because their former co-stars like Boyle, Roberts and Sawyer are \u201cno longer with us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout them, I don\u2019t know what the dynamic is,\u201d Romano told The Post in June. \u201cWe love the show too much, we respect it too much to even try to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Not every iconic \u201cEverybody Loves Raymond\u201d scene was easy to film.
