\u201cReal Time\u201d host Bill Maher and<\/a> Rep. Wesley Hunt, R-Texas, hammered Whoopi Goldberg and \u201cThe View\u201d on Friday after the co-host claimed that life for Black Americans is equivalent to women living under Iran\u2019s oppressive theocratic regime.<\/p>\n

Maher claimed that Democrats took a step \u201cback to sanity\u201d after The New York Times took a more \u201csensible liberal, not crazy woke\u201d position on transgender issues.<\/p>\n

He then asserted that the second step Democrats should take is to \u201cdo something about \u2018The View\u2019\u201d after Goldberg\u2019s comment comparing life for Black Americans to living under Iran\u2019s brutal regime.<\/p>\n

Goldberg sparked backlash during a heated argument with her fellow \u201cThe View\u201d co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin on Wednesday. Griffin elaborated on the many human rights violations perpetrated by the Ayatollah\u2019s regime in Iran, including executions of gay people and imprisonment of women who go outside with their hair uncovered.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s not do that, because if we start with that, we have been known in this country to tie gay folks to the car. Listen, I\u2019m sorry, they used to just keep hanging Black people,\u201d Goldberg insisted as Griffin pushed back and said the situations weren\u2019t comparable.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy district in the great state of Texas is actually a white majority district that President Trump would have won by 25 points. As I said, I\u2019m a direct descendant of a slave, my great-great-grandfather, who was born on Rosedown Plantation. I am literally being judged not by the color of my skin but by the content of my character,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Hunt continued, adding, \u201cThat\u2019s the progress because \u2014 like a lot of white people had to vote for me \u2014 a lot. So I don\u2019t ever want to hear Whoopi Goldberg\u2019s conversation about how it\u2019s worse to be black in America right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Texas congressman<\/a> also pointed out that his father, who grew up under Jim Crow, is now the father of a United States congressman in a white majority district who ran as a Republican.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s America,\u201d Hunt stated.<\/p>\n

CNN Contributor Paul Begala brought up the fact that America has a holiday to celebrate the freedom of Black Americans from slavery \u2014 Juneteenth \u2014 but questioned why President Donald Trump \u201cdoesn\u2019t want to honor\u201d the occasion.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want it,\u201d Hunt replied. \u201cI don\u2019t want Black History Month. I don\u2019t want all these days to make everybody feel special. I\u2019m an \u201980s baby.
