The victim&#8217;s identity remains unknown, and drivers should seek alternate routes.<\/p>\n<p>HOUSTON \u2014 Southbound lanes of Interstate 45 are shut down at Cottage Street after a person was hit and killed on the freeway, according to Houston police.<\/p>\n<p>The crash happened just before 6 p.m. and kept the freeway closed for several hours.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Houston police say the person who was struck was wearing dark clothing and was in the middle of the roadway at the time of the crash.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities have not released the victim\u2019s identity or details about the driver involved.<\/p>\n<p>There is no word yet on when southbound I-45 will reopen.
