The Brooklyn Museum<\/a> has announced its Jan. lineup, featuring the return of its popular Salsa Party<\/a> series alongside a mix of workshops, tours\u00a0alongside performances designed to engage visitors of all ages. Highlights include a poetry workshop<\/a> and stroller tours<\/a> inspired by Monet and Venice<\/a>, drop-in family artmaking programs\u00a0and a pop-up performance<\/a> by the Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra.<\/p>\n Throughout the month, additional programs and special events build on the Museum\u2019s exhibitions and collections, support visual arts learning\u00a0and serve the surrounding community.<\/p>\n Museum Members receive complimentary or discounted tickets and early access to public programs. Inspired by Oliver Jeffers: Life at Sea<\/a>, participants can help expand the exhibition\u2019s underwater world by creating colorful coral, fish\u00a0and other ocean life to add to the evolving installation. \nOn Sunday, Jan. 11, from 11:00am to 1:30pm, poet Brad Vogel leads a generative writing workshop in the Schapiro Wing and Cantor Gallery on the fifth floor. The program connects Monet and Venice to Brooklyn\u2019s Gowanus Canal and begins with an exhibition overview by Lisa Small, Senior Curator of European Art. \nTaking place Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 11:00am to 12:30pm, this guided experience meets in the Rubin Pavilion on the first floor. Older adults are invited to explore the work of renowned Malian photographer Seydou Ke\u00efta and examine how his studio portraits reflect social and political change in mid-20th-century Bamako. \nHeld Wednesdays, Jan. 14 and 21, from 10:00 to 11:15am in the Schapiro Wing and Cantor Gallery on the fifth floor, these stroller-friendly tours are designed for children up to 24 months old. The program features touchable objects, songs, close looking\u00a0and time for caregivers to connect. Tickets are $40 per family and include general admission.<\/p>\n
\nOn Saturdays, Jan. 17 and 31, from 1:00 to 4:00pm, visitors of all ages can drop in to sketch from photographs and fashions featured in Seydou Ke\u00efta: A Tactile Lens. Sessions take place in the Schapiro Wing on the fourth floor and are free with Museum admission.<\/p>\n
\nThe Museum\u2019s Salsa Party series returns Thursday, Jan. 22, from 6:00 to 9:30pm in the first-floor lobby. The evening begins with a dance lesson at 6:00pm, followed by live music, social dancing\u00a0and performances by local Latin dance teams. Free admission; registration is encouraged, with limited tickets available at the door.<\/p>\n
\nFriday, Jan. 23, from 5:00 to 7:30pm, teens ages 14 to 19 are invited to the Great Hall on the first floor and the Beaux-Arts Court on the third floor for an evening focused on art, mental health\u00a0and wellness.
