{"id":476659,"date":"2025-12-28T07:53:30","date_gmt":"2025-12-28T07:53:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/476659\/"},"modified":"2025-12-28T07:53:30","modified_gmt":"2025-12-28T07:53:30","slug":"winter-storm-impacting-holiday-travel-in-philadelphia-on-busiest-day-for-air-travel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/476659\/","title":{"rendered":"Winter storm impacting holiday travel in Philadelphia on busiest day for air travel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao MvWXB TjIXL aGjvy ebVHC \">PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) &#8212; Winter weather moving into the region Friday evening is already leaving its mark on holiday travel with delays and cancellations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Despite the storm, many travelers told Action News their journeys have been surprisingly smooth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">&#8220;Very, very excited we made it through Christmas, and now it&#8217;s time to go,&#8221; said Regina Morrison, of Deptford, New Jersey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Morrison is hitting the skies on what was projected to be the busiest travel day of the holiday season at Philadelphia International Airport.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">&#8220;I&#8217;m going to Houston for my great-granddaughter&#8217;s birth,&#8221; said Morrison.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">She&#8217;s one of more than one million passengers traveling through the airport between December 23 and January 4, prompting many travelers to get a head start<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">&#8220;We actually came three hours early, so that&#8217;s how we prepared. It&#8217;s also easier to do when you have a toddler, so other than that, just lots of snacks and lots of toys, just things to keep entertained,&#8221; said Shalis Ammons, of Ringoes, New Jersey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Airport officials at PHL say holiday travel numbers are projected to be five percent higher than last year, but many passengers say the crowds and conditions haven&#8217;t slowed them down.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">&#8220;For me, it&#8217;s been pretty uneventful. It&#8217;s been amazing, I couldn&#8217;t believe how quickly I got through,&#8221; said Monica Williams, of Charlotte, North Carolina.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Still, with winter weather moving in, officials stress the importance of staying informed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">&#8220;You definitely have to check with your airline, sign up for their text or email alerts, go on their websites. Right now, it looks like a lot of regional flights have been cancelled,&#8221; said Heather Redfern, PHL Spokesperson.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC eTIW sUzSN \">She adds that even if your flight is scheduled to depart on time, travelers should plan ahead and allow extra time to get to the airport, as road conditions could become dangerous with the expected weather.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2025 WPVI-TV.
