{"id":47679,"date":"2025-07-08T03:41:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-08T03:41:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/47679\/"},"modified":"2025-07-08T03:41:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-08T03:41:10","slug":"wings-move-paige-bueckers-caitlin-clark-showdown-to-20000-seat-venue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/47679\/","title":{"rendered":"Wings move Paige Bueckers-Caitlin Clark showdown to 20,000-seat venue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark have brought some big-time star power to the WNBA, and they\u2019ll now face off in a venue big enough to fit the thousands of fans aching to see them play.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Wings announced Monday that <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/DallasWings\/status\/1942314262527091039\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">the team\u2019s Aug. 1 game against the Fever has been moved to the 20,000-seat American Airlines Center<\/a> in downtown Dallas, the home of the Mavericks and Stars.<\/p>\n<p>The matchup had been scheduled to take place at Wings\u2019 home arena, the 7,000-seat College Park Center in Arlington.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Wings are billing the matchup as \u201cThe Sequel\u201d in promotional marketing, since the teams played in front of a crowd of 20,409 on June 27 at American Airlines Center, with the Fever notching a 94-86 win.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Wings and Fever played at the American Airlines Center on June 27, but Caitlin Clark did not play. NBAE via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The hype for that showdown was dampened, though, since Clark did not play with a left groin injury.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the first matchup between the WNBA\u2019s two most recent No. 1 picks would be on July 13, when Dallas travels to play Indiana at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Aug. 1 game at American Airlines Center will be the first time the young superstars face off in Dallas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The news of the venue change received a mostly positive response from fans on social media<\/p>\n<p>Caitlin Clark during a game with the Fever on June 22. Lucas Peltier-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPaige vs. Clark will be the W\u2019s version of Magic vs. Bird for years to come,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Free_DeezHoez\/status\/1942318398580416621\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">wrote on user on X<\/a>, with <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/theJthatmatters\/status\/1942331103127232583\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">another attributing the change to \u201cthe ol\u2019 Caitlin Clark effect.\u201d\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Others said they wished the Wings played all of their home games in the larger arena, like <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/canelaislive\/status\/1942321242213675383\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">one user who wrote<\/a>: \u201cYall got Paige bro, why she ain\u2019t playing every home game in there?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Fever (9-9) sit in third place in the Eastern Conference standings, albeit with Clark missing half the team\u2019s games with injury.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Paige Bueckers with the Wings during a game on July 3.
