(WCTV) &#8211; With the new year just days away, one fitness trainer shared tips for staying on track for your new year\u2019s fitness goals. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Owner of Kingz and Queenz Fitness, Kelvin Frazier, said it\u2019s important to set goals intentionally. \u201cIf you\u2019re setting goals for 2026, set realistic goals starting off.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/today.yougov.com\/society\/articles\/53789-americans-new-years-resolutions-2026-poll\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/today.yougov.com\/society\/articles\/53789-americans-new-years-resolutions-2026-poll\">survey by market research company YouGov<\/a>, \u201cexercising more\u201d was the most common New Year\u2019s resolution for 2026. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Frazier says many people often want to set lofty goals when they\u2019re trying to start, or rekindle, their fitness journey. But in reality, he said it may be more helpful to start small. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-center article-text\"><b>More Tallahassee news:<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cYou\u2019ve got to crawl before you can walk. Slow progress is still progress,\u201d the trainer said. \u201cIf you are a beginner and you want to enter the gym, don\u2019t go in the gym and try to lift heavy weight. Start off lightweight. Don\u2019t go in the gym trying to run on the treadmill. Start walking first.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A person\u2019s diet is even more critical than exercise, Frazier said. \u201cEating is the 80 percent. Working out is the 20,\u201d he said. \u201cIf you\u2019re really trying to reach those results, you actually want to start eating healthier \u2013 eating more vegetables, eating more fruit, eating more lean meat if you do eat meat. Keep a balanced diet and plenty of water.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Frazier also encouraged people to avoid constantly chasing the latest fitness trend on social media. \u201cYou always want to stick to a plan.
