Economic impact<\/strong><\/p>\n In April, the UT San Antonio\u00a0Jude Valdez Institute for Economic Development (VIED)<\/a>, released its annual report<\/a>\u00a0showing it had an overall $1.8 billion in direct economic impact on the local and state economy.<\/p>\n The institute draws from federal, state and local support to operate 10 centers and 18 programs that serve startups, existing businesses and policymakers seeking strategic economic growth through local, regional, national and international initiatives.<\/p>\n The economic impact metric encompasses all new financing, investments, sales, contracts and exports for its thousands of clients, the businesses that open and create more than 77,000 jobs in the state.<\/p>\n One Riverwalk Place<\/strong><\/p>\n In August, the university opened the doors of\u00a0One Riverwalk Place<\/a>, 700 N. St. Mary\u2019s St., the most recent acquisition supporting the university\u2019s ongoing strategic expansion in downtown San Antonio.<\/p>\n UT San Antonio completed the building purchase in March with the goal of supporting the university\u2019s long-term vision and\u00a0Campus Master Plan<\/a>\u00a0to promote community partnerships and provide meaningful opportunities to learn and work in the city\u2019s urban core.<\/p>\n One Riverwalk Place is part of a larger, long-term\u00a0district planning initiative<\/a>\u00a0that supports the university\u2019s downtown development while also examining how space is used on all university campuses across San Antonio.<\/p>\n Growth and success<\/strong><\/p>\n The\u00a0district planning initiative reached a key milestone in October when the team released its final report<\/a>.<\/p>\n The assessment evaluated space needs across the university\u2019s academic campuses and provides a growth framework, addressing immediate priorities and opportunities for long-term development.<\/p>\n
