While <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mondaq.com\/redirection.asp?article_id=1724204&amp;company_id=23192&amp;redirectaddress=https:\/\/www.disabilityleavelaw.com\/2025\/08\/articles\/uncategorized\/rhode-island-first-in-nation-to-require-accommodation-of-employees-menopause-effective-immediately\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rhode Island adopted a law in June 2025<\/a>&#13;<br \/>\nrequiring employers to provide workplace accommodations for job&#13;<br \/>\napplicants and employees experiencing menopause and&#13;<br \/>\nmenopause-related medical conditions, Philadelphia&#8217;s ordinance&#13;<br \/>\nspecifically addresses menstruation. Philadelphia is the first&#13;<br \/>\nmajor American city to include menstruation, perimenopause, and&#13;<br \/>\nmenopause among its list of protected classes.<\/p>\n<p>The PFPO was last amended on January 16, 2023 to provide&#13;<br \/>\nemployees with protection on the basis of their reproductive health&#13;<br \/>\nautonomy.<\/p>\n<p>Employers already familiar with engaging in the interactive&#13;<br \/>\nprocess can follow a similar protocol when providing accommodations&#13;<br \/>\nto those experiencing symptoms of menstruation, perimenopause, or&#13;<br \/>\nmenopause.
