As the investigation continued, RCMP determined a dangerous person alert was necessary, \u201cdue to the level of violence and circumstances, including (the suspect) being armed.\u201d<\/p>\n
Just after 1 p.m. the suspect\u2019s vehicle was located in a rural area near McLennan, and the RCMP Emergency Response Team that was \u201calready deployed for public safety\u201d was directed to the area, and the suspect was \u201csafely taken into custody.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fourty-two-year old Curtis Halladay had two counts of second-degree murder charges laid, with a court date set for Jan. 8 in Grande Prairie.<\/p>\n
Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit Staff Sergeant Todd Wiebe discussed their response; \u201cthis investigation saw the rapid deployment of a significant amount of police resources managed by the Alberta RCMP Real Time Operation Center in order to promptly investigate the offence, warn the public, and arrest this dangerous individual.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wiebe also took the time to send his condolences to the family and friends of the victims.<\/p>\n
