Shares of data center investment firm DigitalBridge<\/a> surged as much as 50% in premarket trade on Monday, following a media report that Japan’s SoftBank<\/a> is in advanced talks to acquire the New York-listed company.<\/p>\n SoftBank could announce a deal as soon as Monday, Bloomberg reported<\/a>, citing unnamed sources.<\/p>\n CNBC has reached out to representatives for SoftBank and DigitalBridge. Both companies declined to comment when contacted by Bloomberg.<\/p>\n After peaking at 50% higher at around 4:20 a.m. ET, shares of DigitalBridge were last seen 34% higher. The stock is up roughly 23% year-to-date.<\/p>\n The report comes amid a global boom for the infrastructure that underpins AI applications \u2014 and as SoftBank doubles down on the tech. <\/p>\n The Japanese giant recently sold<\/a> its entire stake in U.S. chipmaker Nvidia<\/a> for $5.83 billion to make room for its investment in OpenAI.<\/p>\n DigitalBridge describes itself as “a unique digital infrastructure business,” and has roughly $108 billion of assets under management as of the end of September, according to its website. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The logo of Japanese company SoftBank Group at the company’s headquarters in Tokyo on November 21, 2025.
