Ranchi, Jun 21 (PTI) Members of the transgender community held a \u2018pride march\u2019 here on Saturday to raise awareness about their rights and press for demands including employment opportunities, access to education, housing, and equal healthcare facilities.<\/p>\n
Holding placards with messages such as \u2018transgender rights are human rights\u2019 and \u2018let us live with pride\u2019, they took out the rally from Vendors\u2019 Market to Albert Ekka Chowk.<\/p>\n
There aren\u2019t even gender-neutral toilets for us anywhere in Ranchi, whether in malls or other public places,\u201d a transgender said.<\/p>\n

Kumud, a transgender rights activist, said the government\u2019s Rs 1,000 monthly pension promise is yet to be fulfilled. \u201cThe promise remains only on paper. Around nine persons had been enrolled for the scheme but they received the amount only for two or three months,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Another activist, Amarjit, added, \u201cTransgender people want to lead their lives with pride. The government promised 2 per cent reservation in jobs for transgenders, but that too remains unfulfilled. Like everyone else, we also need \u2018roti, kapda aur makan\u2019 (food, clothing, and shelter).
