{"id":47897,"date":"2025-07-08T05:36:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-08T05:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/47897\/"},"modified":"2025-07-08T05:36:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-08T05:36:09","slug":"tennis-fans-say-they-hate-what-has-happened-to-the-courts-at-wimbledon-this-year-which-is-being-called-really-bad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/47897\/","title":{"rendered":"Tennis fans say they \u2018hate\u2019 what has happened to the courts at Wimbledon this year which is being called &#8216;really bad&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Wimbledon is one of the biggest annual sporting events in the world, with Centre Court welcoming some high profile guests in the Royal Box.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of those invited into the Royal Box was former world number one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/andy-roddick-explains-what-he-noticed-about-jannik-sinner-when-watching-him-from-the-royal-box-at-wimbledon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Andy Roddick, who watched Jannik Sinner\u2019s victory over Pedro Martinez<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/features\/what-rafael-nadal-said-to-roger-federer-at-the-net-after-winning-the-2008-wimbledon-final\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Centre Court has hosted some iconic matches<\/a> over the years, including the 2008 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/wimbledon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wimbledon<\/a> final between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/rafael-nadal\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rafael Nadal<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/roger-federer\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Roger Federer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, some tennis fans have noticed something different about the courts at Wimbledon this year and they are not happy about it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"691\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2223917438-1024x691.jpg\" alt=\"Day Eight: The Championships - Wimbledon 2025\" \/>Photo by Dan Istitene\/Getty ImagesTennis fans \u2018hate\u2019 what has happened to the courts at Wimbledon this year<\/p>\n<p>There are a number of things that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/boris-becker-reacts-to-controversial-umpire-decision-during-ben-sheltons-second-round-match-at-wimbledon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Wimbledon has received criticism for this year<\/a>, including scheduling.<\/p>\n<p>However, tennis fans have also criticised the courts at Wimbledon after suggesting that something has changed.<\/p>\n<p>The general argument from these social media users is that the courts at Wimbledon are now slower, claiming that it no longer feels like grass court tennis.<\/p>\n<p>One wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), \u201cWatching Wimbledon and it\u2019s not even grass tennis anymore.. it\u2019s so far gone, like how can we even try and compare past greats who won Wimbledon when it\u2019s just not even remotely the same surface anymore? Feel like they are significantly slower than usual. This is really bad. Every match I\u2019ve watched just doesn\u2019t seem like grass besides the low balls.. seems like a mix of clay and hard. Not ideal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another person claimed that Wimbledon\u2019s courts have not been like this for a lot longer than just this year and compared them to more like green clay.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeen saying it\u2019s been green clay for 20+ years.
