Asia-Pacific markets mostly fell Tuesday, after the tech sell-down on Wall Street continued on AI bubble fears.<\/p>\n
Nvidia<\/a>\u00a0shares dropped more than 1% Monday stateside, giving back some of its more than 5% gain in last week’s period.\u00a0Palantir Technologies<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Meta Platforms<\/a>\u00a0also suffered losses, as did\u00a0Oracle<\/a>.<\/p>\n Japan’s Nikkei 225<\/a> was down 0.18%, while the broad-based Topix was 0.17% lower. <\/p>\n Shares of Softbank Group Corp<\/a> slipped over 2% before paring some losses, after the company announced a deal<\/a> late Monday to buy data center investment firm\u00a0DigitalBridge<\/a>\u00a0for $4 billion as part of its artificial intelligence push. <\/p>\n SoftBank CEO and Chairman Masayoshi Son said the acquisition “will strengthen the foundation for next-generation AI data centers” and advance the firm’s vision to become a leading “Artificial Super Intelligence” platform provider. Shares of DigitalBridge jumped about 10% after the announcement.<\/p>\n South Korea’s Kospi<\/a> reversed losses to gain 0.1%, while the small-cap Kosdaq declined 1.02%. <\/p>\n Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index<\/a> opened with marginal gains, while the CSI 300 in mainland China was down 0.42%.<\/p>\n Investors will be focused on China’s military exercises around Taiwan, after the world’s second-largest economy announced new drills surrounding the island Monday. <\/p>\n The Taiwan Weighted Index<\/a> was down 0.66%, with major tech names like Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company<\/a> and Hon Hai<\/a> down about 1% and 0.65% respectively. <\/p>\n Australia’s\u00a0S&P\/ASX 200<\/a> was flat, after registering gains earlier in the day. <\/p>\n U.S. futures were little changed in early Asian hours. <\/p>\n Overnight in the U.S., the\u00a0S&P 500<\/a>\u00a0dropped 0.35%, while the\u00a0Nasdaq Composite<\/a>\u00a0shed 0.50%.
