\n\tJon Stewart<\/a> didn\u2019t disappoint with his views on the multi-million-dollar settlement between Paramount<\/a> Global, which owns The Daily Show<\/a> network Comedy Central, and President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

\n\tFive days after the company paid Trump $16M to settle the lawsuit<\/a> that the President brought against it for its handling of a 60 Minutes<\/a> interview with Presidential candidate Kamala Harris, Stewart called it \u201cshameful\u201d before throwing to a slide throwing Arbys under the bus as well. \u201cFor when you want a sandwich commensurate with your company\u2019s shame,\u201d it read.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter a few other lines during the first half of the show, which largely covered Trump\u2019s recent \u201clegislative coup\u201d, Stewart doubled down and brought on former 60 Minutes correspondent Steve Kroft as his guest to discuss the topic.<\/p>\n

\n\tKroft, who won three Peabody Awards and nine Emmys for his reporting, spent 30 seasons on the show, leaving in 2019.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter introducing Kroft, Stewart called the settlement \u201cunusual\u201d before the journalist noted that a couple of Congressmen think it was \u201cbribery\u201d.<\/p>\n

\n\tKroft agreed that the move was \u201cdevastating\u201d to the journalists at 60 Minutes and said there was a lot of \u201cfear over there\u201d about losing their jobs, what\u2019s happening to the country and of losing the First Amendment.<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter showing an interview with Trump on Fox News, Stewart said, \u201cI would like to know why the 60 Minutes edit was worthy of a $16M acquiescence of what is considered the Tiffany news, gold standard network for Paramount of news, where, very clearly, Fox just did what seems to me to be a more egregious edit. So, explain to me what was going through the mind of Paramount when they said, \u2018Oh, yeah, we screwed up, here\u2019s your money\u2019. Why didn\u2019t they fight it?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThey never said \u2018We screwed up\u2019. They just paid the money,\u201d replied Kroft.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFlat out protection money?,\u201d asked Stewart. \u201cYeah, it was a shakedown,\u201d he answered.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIs this purely Paramount buying their way\u2026 they\u2019re being sold right now, to a gentleman who was friends with the President, Larry Ellison and his son David Ellison at Skydance. Was this settlement just a payment so that this merger can go through and not be challenged by Trump\u2019s FCC?,\u201d asked Stewart?<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYes,\u201d replied Kroft. \u201cIt\u2019s a little complicated. There\u2019s Shari Redstone, who is the head of Paramount\u2026 she wants to sell it\u2026 so she wanted the sale to go through, but Donald Trump thought, I\u2019m going to settle the score here. He\u2019s said very often about \u2018I\u2019m going to go after my enemies\u2019.
